The Egg Donation Process for Intended Parents

Here's exactly what to expect when you start your egg donation journey with New Grace Fertility. Our proven 9-step process ensures safety, transparency, and the best possible outcome.

1
Consultation

Free Egg Donation Consultation

Get the information you need to make the right decision. During your consultation, you'll learn about the entire egg donation process, costs, legal considerations, and what to expect. We'll discuss your preferences for a donor — including physical characteristics, educational background, ethnicity, and any other criteria important to your family. Consultations are available via video conference. Language support is available in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese.

2
Matching

Select Your Egg Donor

Based on your preferences, we'll present you with compatible donor profiles from our database. Each profile includes detailed information about the donor's medical history, educational background, physical characteristics, personal interests, and family health history. We understand the profound journey of building a family through egg donation — our mission is to connect you with an exceptional donor who shares your aspirations for parenthood.

3
Agreement

Sign the Service Agreement

Once you've selected your egg donor, we'll sign a service agreement with you to guarantee the quality of our matching process and services. This protects both parties and ensures clear expectations throughout the journey. There are no hidden fees — our pricing is transparent from the start.

4
Funding

Open Escrow & Fund Your Account

Protect your investment with our secure escrow management. We offer two options: opening a trust account through our escrow partners, or using our company account. Payment is split into two installments — the first covers initial expenses including the donor's travel, medical screening, legal fees, and 50% of the agency fee; the second installment (due before the donor starts her cycle) covers the donor's compensation and the remaining agency fee. All fund transactions are visible through the escrow system for complete transparency.

5
Medical

Comprehensive Medical Screening

Upon receiving your payment, we coordinate with the IVF clinic to schedule your donor's comprehensive medical screening. This includes ovarian reserve evaluation (AMH, antral follicle count), infectious disease screening, genetic carrier testing, and a full physical examination. We also arrange for the intended father to complete his screening (semen analysis, genetic and infectious disease testing) during this period and arrange for sperm cryopreservation. Local donors are screened at your designated clinic; out-of-state donors complete initial testing at local facilities.

6
Psychological

Psychological Evaluation & Genetic Counseling

After the donor completes her medical screening, we arrange for a licensed psychologist to conduct a comprehensive psychological evaluation. The assessment report is sent directly to your IVF clinic. If your clinic requires a family genetic evaluation, we coordinate that as well and ensure all reports are delivered promptly.

7
Clearance

Medical & Legal Clearance

Once all screening results are in, your IVF doctor issues a medical clearance letter. Simultaneously, we connect you with a reproductive attorney to draft the egg donation contract. Two legal documents are required: an attorney engagement letter and the egg donation agreement itself. Both the donor and intended parents sign, and the law firm issues a legal clearance letter to the clinic. We also purchase egg donation complication insurance for the donor before the cycle begins.

8
Cycle

Egg Donation Cycle & Monitoring

Based on the clinic's stimulation calendar, we arrange for the donor to travel to the clinic location in advance. We handle all travel logistics — flights, accommodations, airport transfers — and personally accompany the donor to every appointment and the egg retrieval. Before the cycle begins, we ensure the donor starts prenatal supplements (including CoQ10) for optimal preparation. During the stimulation phase (approximately 10–12 days of hormone injections), we conduct video verification for the first and last injections, monitor daily injection compliance with photo documentation, and ensure all medications are taken at the precise times prescribed by the clinic. We share daily life updates and photos with intended parents throughout the process.

9
Retrieval

Egg Retrieval & Fertilization

Once the follicles reach the desired size, the donor receives a trigger shot (typically Lupron or hCG) to induce final maturation. Approximately 36 hours later, the donor undergoes a minimally invasive egg retrieval procedure under sedation. A needle is guided through the vaginal wall into the ovaries, and the eggs are aspirated from the follicles. The retrieved eggs are then fertilized with the intended father's sperm through IVF or ICSI at your fertility clinic, and resulting embryos are cultured to the blastocyst stage for transfer or freezing.

Egg donors at New Grace Fertility must meet these minimum requirements: age 21–32, BMI between 18–28, non-smoker and drug-free, no significant medical or genetic conditions, and able to pass comprehensive medical and psychological screening. All donors undergo ovarian reserve testing (AMH/AFC), infectious disease screening, genetic carrier screening, and psychological evaluation before being approved for matching.

No. Current medical research shows that egg donation does not affect a woman's future fertility. The hormone medications used during the donation cycle stimulate eggs that would otherwise be naturally lost during a menstrual cycle. The egg retrieval procedure is minimally invasive and does not reduce the donor's overall egg reserve. All donors undergo thorough medical evaluation before and after the donation cycle to ensure their health and safety.

IVF with donor eggs has significantly higher success rates compared to traditional IVF. According to CDC data, the live birth rate per embryo transfer using fresh donor eggs is approximately 55–65% for women of all ages. At New Grace Fertility, our carefully screened donors and coordinated process contribute to high success rates of 93%, with many intended parents achieving healthy pregnancies on their first transfer.

Absolutely. New Grace Fertility serves families from around the world, with particular expertise helping families from China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Southeast Asia. We assist with travel planning, document preparation for international birth certificate and passport applications, and provide bilingual support in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese throughout. California's egg donation-friendly legal framework makes it an ideal choice for international intended parents.
